Once upon a Tyne has some of the best rivers in the country for
recreational and whitewater canoeing. If you have never tried this
popular sport, we can cater for groups and for a wide range of abilities
from the raw beginner to more advanced canoeists wanting to eventually
work up to ventures into white water or out to sea.
Our coaches have been involved in watersports for many years and have
the knowledge, experience and stamina to ensure you learn in a fun and
safe environment. Naturally, the appropriate national governing body
qualifications are maintained by each coach contracted by Once upon a
Tyne.
Canoeing is a full day’s activity. You are picked up directly from Once
upon a Tyne and enjoy a scenic drive into the country where you change
into the kit provided begin your water adventure. We provide you with a
packed lunch for that well-deserved break at midday, and you are
returned to Once upon a Tyne at the close of the day to spend the
evening as you wish.
Courses can lead to British Canoe Qualifications if this is what you are
after, but they also lead to loads of great fun, especially in a group.
Canoeing can also be combined with a same-day kayaking session so
that your group can experience a great taster session of both of these
popular water sports combined in one day.
